A heavy sinker should do the trick.Try to cast along the current edge where the water current will be a little slower. If your line still keeps moving, you need more weight.Should you not have heavy sinkers you can tie a cluster of lighter sinkers together. This cluster will spread apart while being on bottom and you should hold. Once held on bottom, set the rod in a holder and keep the line tight. Try not to move the rod. When retrieving, try to "lift" the sinkers off bottom & quickly reel in.

I live in N. Carolina there are some monster catfish in High Rock Lake, unfortunely I can never seem to keep my hook from getting tangled up on the bottom of the river. Also my hook and line floats on down the river and gets stuck, what can I do? Proper hooks, weight etc?

@MustafaBabar We were fishing in Wellandport Ontario.There are many areas where the Welland River joins up with the road making it for easy access for the shore angler.Thanks for writing in & good fishing.
